The Empress

Element:         Light Earth

Type:             King Star

Nature:           Authority, Finance

Characteristics: Wealth and Power

The Empress star is of the Light Earth element. It is a star of Finance and Authority, governing Wealth and Power. In a real-world analogy, The Empress is considered as Prime Minister. The Empress is best placed in the Wealth House.

The Empress is one of the Four Kings (The Emperor, The Empress, Apollo, Selene), and The Empress star itself governs the bestowing of wealth and fortune. The Empress governs gentleness and caution; as the ruler of the treasury, its financial nature is extremely potent. When facing an affliction involving The Empress, the best way to resolve it is often through money.

As a King Star, The Empress also favors being attended by aides. However, there’s a distinction: The attendants who serve The Emperor consider both The Empress and KingOfCup as support. But when The Empress meets KingOfCup, KingOfCup is not considered its aide. The same logic applies when The Empress meets The Emperor and KingOfCup.

Comparing The Emperor and The Empress: although both are King Stars, The Empress is merely a minister of The Emperor.

When The Emperor and The Empress are in the same house and are aspected by Polaris, Vega, Minerva, Mercury, Left Wing, and Right Wing, it is called “A Court Assembly.”

In this configuration, The Emperor is still the King, not The Empress. The Empress holds financial authority but is not “wealth” itself. It is the “treasury,” equivalent to the governor of a central bank. Therefore, it only has the ability to manage and store money, lacking the ability to earn money.

Therefore, despite both being King Stars, The Empress lacks The Emperor’s talent for managing the bigger picture, it leans more toward financial leadership. Consequently, The Empress’s decisiveness and leadership skills are inferior to The Emperor’s. At the same time, it also lacks The Emperor’s autocratic streak.

The Emperor can pioneer, while The Empress excels at maintaining . Thus, The Emperor can launch new ventures, whereas The Empress should only reform or improve upon an existing situation. That is, The Empress should remain stable and not try to force a new path in times of adversity. The Empress leans toward indulgence and lacks the patience to build a career from hardship.

Because The Empress prefers stability and has a tendency toward indulgence, it should not encounter the Calamity star. The Calamity star increases toil and hardship, bringing adversity that makes it difficult for The Empress to work peacefully, reform, or correct flaws in its situation.

Since The Empress is only the “treasury,” it greatly benefits from encountering wealth stars like Sunflower or Clover. With a wealth star, the “treasury is full,” allowing it to fully exercise its financial authority.

However, exercising financial authority is linked to KingOfCup. KingOfCup is always in a triangular aspect with The Empress. KingOfCup is the “Seal Star”; without the Seal, there is no power. If the Seal Star is afflicted, authority cannot be wielded effectively. Therefore, when The Empress appears, one must also examine KingOfCup.

If KingOfCup is with good stars or supportive aide stars, The Empress’s authority will be enhanced, allowing it to advance or retreat appropriately in its work and reforms. If KingOfCup is afflicted by stars like Blight or Eclipse in its house, adjacent to it, or opposing it, The Empress’s authority will be constrained. Even when on the defensive , it is prone to making mistakes and timing its actions poorly.

If the two wealth stars, Sunflower and Clover, are not present, The Empress is called an “Empty Treasury” . If KingOfCup does not meet good stars, or worse, meets Calamity stars, The Empress is called an “Unlocked Treasury” . When The Empress is in the same house with EarthQuake or Void, or when it is aspected by Calamity, Blight, and Eclipse, it is also called an “Unlocked Treasury.”

An “Unlocked Treasury” can cause The Empress to become someone who uses unscrupulous methods to gain an advantage. Its nature becomes scheming; harmonious on the outside but manipulative within, ultimately leading to isolation.

An “Unlocked Treasury” also creates more complicated and difficult situations, forcing one to constantly patch up exposed flaws. Its nature will thus transform into deceit and falsehood , ultimately leading to failure.

The above describes the fundamental nature of The Empress. Therefore, when The Empress is in the InnerHouse of the Major Circle or Minor Circle, it is not considered an “Empty Treasury” or “Unlocked Treasury,” because a Predict Year does not represent your core nature. Thus, it is not judged as deceitful in this context.

When The Empress is in the InnerHouse during a Predict Year, it strongly desires to meet financial aide stars. If there are no wealth stars, and it instead meets Calamity, Blight, or Eclipse, it merely governs obstacles and difficulties, not lawsuits or illegal activities. If EarthQuake and Tidal Waves are also aspecting, The Empress’s isolation transforms into loneliness. This creates the emptiness of a person who refuses to strive, preferring only idle comfort.

The Empress is always opposite the Fenrir star in the 12-house chart. This is the source of The Empress’s activation. If Fenrir encounters bad stars like Blight or Eclipse, and also Erebus, the activating force for The Empress will be insufficient. At this time, if The Empress is also an “Empty Treasury,” the person is more likely to feel that life is illusory. This is the psychological state of someone who, after too many failures, leans toward negative thinking and world-weariness.

The stars most closely related to The Empress, besides Fenrir, are three others: Hephaestus, The Emperor, and Justice.

Among these, the “The Empress Justice” combination, aspected by Sunflower, and also meeting “Justice Clover” or “Hephaestus Clover,” is a high-level configuration.

The remaining star systems generally prefer The Emperor and The Empress to be in the same house, or The Empress alone with good stars.

  •     The Empress with Polaris, Vega, Left Wing, Right Wing, Minerva, Mercury: This grants the person unique insights and increases their leadership aura.
  •     The Empress with Left Wing, Right Wing, Dragon Lair, Phoenix adjacent: Kind, steady, competent, careful, and a good planner, capable of holding high office.
  •     A person with The Empress in the InnerHouse does not want to see the Calamity star. If it meets Calamity without any wealth stars, it contradicts the “treasury” nature, making it hard to avoid using cunning schemes to make money.

If The Empress meets the Calamity star, but also meets Minerva and Mercury, the person can be wealthy and refined. This is because Minerva and Mercury govern literary talent and eloquence. Though slightly cunning, they do not lose their elegant demeanor.

But if Minerva or Mercury meets Eclipse, this “The Empress with Calamity, Minerva, and Mercury” formation is degraded. The person easily becomes someone full of complaints, believing they are talented but unrecognized.

Generally, The Empress should not stand alone. The keeper of the treasury should not be isolated; isolation leads to coveting money. If it stands alone with no good stars and aspects Calamity, it becomes deceitful and scheming. It also should not meet Void, EarthQuake, Cloud, or Scissor, as this governs isolation and a lack of support. If The Empress stands alone and meets Void, EarthQuake, Cloud, Scissor, and Enchantment, it governs a person full of insidious plots.

The Empress and KingOfCup are an important “pair.” The Empress and KingOfCup have a “paired” relationship. The Emperor and The Empress, however, are not a “pair.”

When The Empress is in the InnerHouse, the person is only suited to developing within an existing situation. They lack a broad perspective, a personal viewpoint, and a firm stance, performing instead as a competent manager. Due to its “treasury” nature, a person with The Empress in the InnerHouse is rather “money-loving,” cautious, steady, and always seeks stability.

“The Empress – Hephaestus”: For this combination, please refer to the “Hephaestus Star, The Empress Section.”

The Empress Alone, Opposing “Justice Fenrir”: The Empress opposes “Justice Fenrir” from the OuterSelf House, aspects KingOfCup in the Career House, and “borrows” the “The Emperor Aphrodite” combination into the Wealth House. Comparatively, the stars in the Career House are rather weak, while the stars in the Wealth House are stable. Therefore, this combination has difficulty achieving a high-level configuration. Even with a gathering of aide stars, one may at best become a high-level civil servant or an administrative head in the business world or a small company. This formation needs Clover, Baton, and Alchemy stars aspecting—and no Calamity, EarthQuake, or Tidal Waves—to become a High configuration. If it also meets Sunflower and Pegasus, one should pursue business to become wealthy, and use that wealth to gain honor and social status.

If it meets EarthQuake or Tidal Waves, even with good stars, it governs an isolated life. Though they respect others, they feel an inner emptiness. If the Property, Partner, or Legacy houses are afflicted, they are prone to suffering caused by their spouse or children. They may have daughters but no sons, or must remarry to find a lifelong partner. Life is rarely perfect.

If there are few good stars and many Calamity stars, life lacks stability. If Calamity aspects, The Empress loses all its advantages, becoming a cunning schemer. If Enchantment is also present, it governs insidious plots.

In modern society, a woman with this configuration in her InnerHouse can become a leader in politics or business. However, her marriage is often not ideal. She may prefer trivial or petty tasks, or often nag her husband about household chores. If the husband is subservient, it’s because his abilities are inferior to hers. These flaws are not major and can be overcome.

“The Empress The Emperor” in the InnerHouse: Please refer to the “The Emperor” section.

The Empress with Hephaestus – Fenrir in Opposition: This formation governs a preference for stability, conservatism, and indulgence, but it lacks a special character. Due to the influence of “Hephaestus – Fenrir” in opposition, it can be difficult to remain stable. The person may be busy with trivial matters not worth the effort.

The Empress – Alchemy governs honor and prestige. Whether in business or government, they will have a good reputation in their profession.

The Empress favors Sunflower in the same house or in aspect. If it also meets Left Wing, Right Wing, Minerva, Mercury, Polaris, and Vega with no Calamity stars, a great career is possible. In business, they can find growth through conservative methods. In administrative or financial roles, they may not be suited for the top position but are excellent aides to leaders.

If Calamity is present, it governs scheming, competitiveness, and slandering those more successful. If EarthQuake or Tidal Waves are in the same house, they will live a life of isolation; even if they reach a high position, they will have little help in the end.

“The Empress – Justice” in the InnerHouse: Please refer to the “Justice” section.

The Empress Alone, Opposing “The Emperor Fenrir”: This also aspects KingOfCup in the Career House, creating a special nature for the InnerHouse. “The Emperor” controls Fenrir, transforming it into power, so The Empress’s conservatism gains a challenging streak. If aide stars are aspecting or in the same house, it governs that after reaching a certain stage of development, the person is suddenly promoted by a superior or elder, reaching a new peak.

However, if KingOfCup is afflicted (when seeing The Empress, one must check KingOfCup), a weak KingOfCup in the Career House can drag down The Empress in the InnerHouse. This causes the person to feel annoyed and busy, and they may even face undesirable or awkward situations in their career.

This is especially true when The Empress stands alone, with no Polaris, Vega, Minerva, Mercury, Left Wing, or Right Wing in its house. Even if their career progresses, they will feel sad and lonely. If Calamity, EarthQuake, or Tidal Waves are in the house, this feeling of loneliness is even stronger.

Therefore, a person with The Empress in the InnerHouse does not want KingOfCup in the Career House to be afflicted by Calamity, as this weakens KingOfCup and limits their own status.

Thus, even if “The Emperor Fenrir” (opposition) and The Empress (InnerHouse) have good aide stars, a poorly-placed KingOfCup afflicted by Calamity will make it difficult to become a leader. They should not be in the number one position.

The Empress – Alchemy gives one a reputation for integrity. If it meets “literary stars”, it governs a high-paying, high-class profession.

The Empress Alone in the Major or Minor Circle: Whenever The Empress stands alone, regardless of its position, if it is in the InnerHouse of the Major Circle or Minor Circle, the period governs a career developing slowly and stably, followed by a sudden opportunity for prosperity. A businessperson will expand their operations, becoming a prominent figure in their field. An employee may be promoted, given an important position, or have joyous events like marriage or childbirth.

If it meets a Calamity star, they easily lose opportunities in unimaginable ways. They have many plans but hesitate, lacking decisiveness, and let chances slip by. Furthermore, they are often busy and toiling over nothing, feeling distressed.

If it also meets Eclipse and B.Dissipate, they are prone to awkward situations or illness (stomach ache, “cold” stomach, “hot” stomach). If not, they are prone to gossip and slander. If Calamity, Eclipse, and Blight are all present, they may face unemployment, leading to anxiety and depression.

A Woman with The Empress in the InnerHouse: A woman with The Empress in her InnerHouse is generally kind, honest, intelligent, and skillful, and likes to help others. If aspected by good stars, especially Left Wing and Right Wing, she becomes a strong, noble woman, no less capable than a man. If she meets Calamity, Blight, or Tidal Waves, she is likely to remarry.

If “Hephaestus Fenrir” is in opposition: because she prefers conservatism and stability, she will still value family joy and a stable marriage, even if she has her own career. But if the InnerHouse meets Flora, she may cohabitate before marriage. If Calamity stars besiege the InnerHouse, she may remarry for certain reasons, and it also governs delays in having children.

When The Empress enters the Fortune House, it governs a stable, tolerant, and magnanimous mindset. If others make mistakes, they often have a forgiving heart.

If “The Empress, Sunflower” are in the same house, they often pour all their energy into financial management. If Rip Current is in the same house, it governs stinginess.

With The Empress in the Fortune House, your life pursuit is a stable existence, so you place great importance on immediate benefits. When facing a new job or needing to reform an old one, you feel stressed and overthink.

Generally, meeting good aide stars governs stability.

If Rip Current or Volcano are in the house or aspecting, they often worry needlessly.

If Landslide or Blight are in the house or aspecting, their heart is full of sorrow.

If EarthQuake, Tidal Waves, or B.Dissipate are in the house, it governs a lack of peace; they are busy and toiling day and night.

“The Empress The Emperor” in the same house: They can enjoy true blessings, have few worries, and live a life of leisure.

The Empress aspected by both Hephaestus and Fenrir: The mind is taxed, but the body is at ease.

The Empress with Justice in the house or aspecting: They will feel a lifelong lack of spiritual fulfillment, though they have no worries about material comforts.

The Empress in the Career House, surrounded by good stars, governs career development and achievement. If the configuration is poor but aspects Minerva and Mercury, at best they are an administrative specialist.

If The Empress in the Career House meets Sunflower and Pegasus, they can become wealthy through business. However, they should not start a new enterprise, but rather progress from an existing situation.

The Empress – Alchemy is suited for work in currency, finance, or banking, or for running one’s own business. They can at least manage their work independently but should not speculate.

The Empress meeting a Calamity star is suited for industrial sectors. If EarthQuake or Tidal Waves are in the same house, it conversely governs having extraordinary willpower to develop a career in industry.

The Empress has two high-level “wealthy career” configurations:

“The Empress, Hephaestus” aspecting “The Emperor KingOfCup.” With no Calamity stars and good aide stars, it governs great nobility. Suited for politics.

The Empress aspected by Sunflower. With no Calamity stars and good stars, it also governs great nobility.

The Empress is the treasury. In the Wealth House, it governs the ability to accumulate, so they are often wealthy and prosperous. If aspected by Left Wing, Right Wing, Sunflower, Clover, and also meets The Emperor and Hephaestus, it is the configuration of a billionaire.

The Empress meeting EarthQuake, Tidal Waves, or B.Dissipate does not govern ruin or failure. It only governs that every time money comes in, it may be spent at the same time.

If The Empress aspects Landslide, Rip Current, Volcano, Wildfire, or Blight, it governs disputes or lawsuits related to money.

The Empress in the OuterSelf House governs that one should be more active. If they go abroad or move elsewhere, they can be more satisfied and will be respected by others, receive help, and can become wealthy starting a career or business, especially if Hephaestus is in the house or aspecting.

The Empress strongly dislikes meeting Rip Current or Volcano, especially with Calamity. When far from home, one must beware of petty people plotting against them.

If Landslide or Blight are in the same house, it governs being harmed by petty people. Meeting B.Dissipate governs financial loss.

The Empress in the Property House generally governs inheriting property from parents or grandparents, being able to keep it, and also being able to purchase one’s own.

The Empress aspecting or in the same house as Minerva and Mercury is called “Literary Stars entering the Home.” If it also meets wealth stars, it governs profiting from real estate. If it doesn’t meet wealth stars, it governs that someone in the family is highly educated and can bring honor to the family.

The Empress aspecting Venus, Eros, Dragon Lair, or Phoenix: You will live in a large, old, beautiful house.

The Empress aspecting Landslide or Rip Current: Governs property disputes, or a real estate transaction that falls through.

The Empress meeting Volcano or Wildfire: The home is not peaceful. If it also meets Calamity, EarthQuake, Tidal Waves, or B.Dissipate, it governs fire hazards or a state of constant anxiety.

The Empress meeting EarthQuake, Tidal Waves, or B.Dissipate: Governs loss of property. If the Minor Circle’s Property House has this structure, beware of losing money due to illness in the family.

When The Empress is in the Partner House, it governs a spouse who is capable at work and good at managing finances. The spouse may come from a similar background or have compatible tastes. For a male native, it governs having a smart, younger wife. For a female native, it governs marrying a noble, older husband.

The Empress in a bad position meeting a Calamity star: Governs favoring a lover and forgetting one’s spouse and children. The Empress in a bad position meeting good stars: It’s like a separation without separating; feelings linger, unresolved. A female native will often feel internal dissatisfaction.

The Empress with Hephaestus in the same house: Pursuing someone who is already married.

The Empress with Hephaestus and afflicted by Calamity or Blight: Highly delusional, often becoming a mistress; otherwise, prone to life-and-death separations.

The Empress alone: Governs having a virtuous wife, but still having a lover on the side. Or, governs marrying a divorcee; the second wife is intelligent, talented, and knows how to care for the family.

Meeting Calamity: Governs having an outside affair. Without Calamity, it governs a gentle, caring spouse.

Meeting Calamity, Eclipse, or if the InnerHouse has “Hephaestus Eclipse”: Governs a change in the marriage.

Meeting Selene or Pegasus: Prone to separation or death of the partner; difficult to avoid a situation where the wife usurps the husband’s authority, even with good stars.

In normal situations, governs having many children.

The Empress aspecting Minerva, Mercury, Polaris, Vega: Children are intelligent, multi-talented, and filial.

The Empress in the Legacy House meeting Calamity stars: Children are stubborn or have scarred features.

The Empress alone in a good position: Governs five children. Meeting Calamity, EarthQuake, Tidal Waves: Governs three children. Aspecting Left Wing, Right Wing: Governs five or more children.

The Empress, Justice, and Mercury in the same house: There will inevitably be conflict.

The Empress in the Parents House generally governs a harmonious father-child relationship and having both parents present during childhood. However, if The Empress is with Landslide, it governs disagreements between father and child.

The Empress in the Parents House favors meeting good stars, governing that one enjoys blessings from the parents. But if Sunflower is in the same house, it means the parents like to control the finances and refuse to hand them over, even in old age.

If the Kin House shows stars of gossip and dispute, it means the parents are biased and will give authority to your siblings.

The Empress in the Parents House, aspected by Landslide, Rip Current, Volcano, Wildfire, EarthQuake, Tidal Waves, or Blight: Governs that the parents are disabled, or that you will be adopted or raised by an aunt/uncle, and should live separately.

The Empress in the Kin House governs many siblings (five or more).

The Empress meeting Minerva, Mercury, Polaris, Vega, Left Wing, Right Wing: Siblings are talented and help one another.

The Empress meeting Hephaestus or Justice: There is conflict. Meeting Mercury as well: Siblings are often deceitful.

Meeting Calamity, Eclipse, Blight, EarthQuake, Tidal Waves, B.Dissipate: Conflict and disharmony, or only two siblings, who need your help.

The Empress meeting Fenrir or Leonidas: Prone to incurring resentment. Meeting Calamity, EarthQuake, Tidal Waves: Only two siblings.

The Empress in the Souls & Karma House generally governs stomach problems, leg numbness, edema, paralysis, or goiter.

If aspected by Unicorn or Ego, it governs nausea or heart arrhythmia.

Because it governs stomach pain, if it meets “hot” stars, it governs internal “heat” with symptoms like bad breath, tooth decay, or tongue sores. If it meets “water” stars, it governs a “cold” stomach and stomach aches.

The Empress aspected by Justice: Governs internal “heat.”

The Empress aspected by KingOfCup and Right Wing: Governs stomach aches.

The Empress aspected by Fenrir and Blight: Governs physical injury.

Governs a wide social circle, but one should be cautious in choosing friends. This nature is different from the sociability of Hebe; Hebe socializes without regard to status. It is also unlike the sociability of Justice; Justice easily mixes with bad friends.

The Empress in the Companion House governs having many subordinates. Hebe also has many subordinates, but they have affection for you. Justice’s “many subordinates” means you are easily influenced by cliques of subordinates, and often socialize in your private life. The Empress in the Companion House, however, means you are respected by subordinates, who see you as an elder, like a father or uncle.

If The Empress – Alchemy meets Baton or is aspected by good stars, friends and subordinates are loyal.

The Empress in the Companion House with Calamity stars: Friends or subordinates come and go, or you are bullied by friends or insulted by subordinates.

If The Empress aspects a weak, afflicted KingOfCup, and also meets EarthQuake, Tidal Waves, Calamity, or Dissipate: Beware of being plotted against by friends or subordinates, or having assets robbed or stolen.

The Empress alone with EarthQuake or Tidal Waves: Governs heartless and disloyal friends or subordinates. You treat others sincerely but receive nothing in return.

The Empress is a King Star, belongs to Light Earth, governs kindness, and represents treasury money. As a major star, The Empress has leadership abilities, but this leadership leans toward maintenance, lacking a pioneering spirit. This is like a treasury keeper, whose duty is “financial management,” not “earning money.” Therefore, they must work carefully, often appearing meticulous rather than broad-minded like The Emperor or liberal like Apollo. Even among major stars, there are distinctions.
